Tasks and main fields of activity: freshwater aquaculture. Aquaculture is an agricultural activity on breeding, keeping, rearing of aquaculture objects for obtaining agricultural products (aquaculture products) and its sale, selective breeding works with pond fish.

Land resources: total – 214.4 ha, including water bodies – 181.4 ha.

The amount of fish products sold per year is 30 tons.

The State enterprise «Experimental FISH Farm «Nyvka»» of the Institute of Fisheries of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine has been created by the order of the Ministry of Fisheries of USSR №101 of 14.03.1969.

The current name of the farm was defined by the order of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine of 07 September 2010 №69 «On naming establishments, enterprises and organizations of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine».

The experimental fish farm is directly reported to the Institute of Fisheries of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine.

The farm was created for organizational and business support of the Institute for performing studies, tests, and finishing scientific works, their approbation as well as the process audit and their implementation into production.

The Experimental Station of the Lviv Research Station IF NAAS is a research base for scientific works implemented in the aquaculture of Ukraine and abroad.

The activities of the farm are aimed at achieving positive results when rearing fish seeds, marketable fish, performing selective breeding works, rearing and sale of brood fish, breeding fish seeds of carp, has a Breeding Plant status:

• in rearing Ukrainian scaly breed of carp (Nyvka intrabreed type);
• in rearing Nyvka breeding line of scaleless intrabreed type of Ukrainian framed breed.

Львівська дослідна станція ІРГ НААН має акредитовану лабораторію гідрохімічних досліджень; займається вивченням особливостей живлення мальків осетрових; згідно програм проводить селекційно-племінну роботу коропових видів риб.
На базі дослідної станції проводяться такі іхтіопатологічні та біохімічні дослідження:
- паразитилогічні (за методиками І.Є. Биховської-Павловської (1969) та К.В. Секретарюка (2001);
- гематологічні, зокрема кількість еритроцитів та гемоглобіну;
- визначення вмісту білку [Bradford M.M., 1976];
-вмісту продуктів перекисного окисненення ліпідів (дієнових кон’гантів, та ТБК-активних продуктів);
-визначення активності антиоксидантної системи організму (супероксиддисмутази та каталази).

На базі станції функціонує лабораторія гідрохімічних досліджень (атестована ДП «Львівстандартметрологія» (свідоцтво про атестацію № РЛ 045/28). Галуззю вимірювальних можливостей лабораторії є аналіз питної води, стічних та вод рибогосподарського призначення.
Основним напрямом наукових досліджень лабораторії є моніторинг екологічного стану рибогосподарських водних об’єктів, проведення повного та часткового хімічного аналізу якості води при вирощуванні дослідної риби в ставах за різних форм ведення рибництва, надання рекомендацій з оптимізації водного середовища при вирощуванні різних видів риб. Співробітники лабораторії регулярно надають методичну та практичну допомогу дослідним господарствам Західного регіону України при дослідженні гідрохімічного режиму водойм.

Львівська дослідна станція займається вивченням перспектив застосування препаратів та добавок, що впливають на функціональний стан організму та середовище існування риби. Це дозволяє підвищити неспецифічну імунорезистентність осетрових риб на ювенальних стадіях розвитку та збільшити їх життєстійкість в умовах дії стресових чинників інтенсифікації виробницва.
Відтворення осетрових риб можливе завдяки використанню рециркуляційних аквакультурних систем (РАС). Умови в РАС пов’язані з інтенсифікацією, а саме з підвищенням щільності посадки, годівлею штучними кормами з вмістом компонентів, які б ніколи не трапилися цим рибам в природі. Це та інше, спричиняє стреси, які призводять до зниження опірності організму і виникнення хвороб різної етіології. Можливими рішеннями проблеми є медикаментозний, що спрямований на зупинку росту та знищення патогенного організму та заходи з підвищення життєстійкості організму риб.

Transcarpathian scientific and research station was created based on the order of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine of 12 July 2011 №155 for scientific support of aquaculture in inland water bodies and river systems of the Carpathian region with its unique complex of valuable stenobiontic rheophilic fish species, which include salmonids such as Salmo, Hucho, Thymallus.

The importance of the work is related to the fact the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) defined mountain forests of Carpathians with their water objects as ones of 200 the most important natural regions of the Earth. Carpathians are a habitat for terrestrial, aquatic, semi-aquatic flora and fauna, which correspond to intact and pristine biodiversity of Europe.

The researches of the station use modern methods of physic-hydrological, hydrochemical, algological, zoological, and ichthyological research necessary for the development of scientific foundations and practical implementation of the strategy of the restoration of species diversity in the Carpathian region.

Major areas and kinds of scientific activities:

1. conducting scientific research on the formation of collection stocks of rare and endangered fish species of the Carpathian region;
2. improvement of existing and development of new technologies of breeding, rearing, and restoration of rare and endangered fish species for stocking them into the river network of the Carpathian region;
3. development of scientific foundations of aquaculture development in inland water bodies of Ukraine;
4. creation of genetic pool bank of valuable fish species;
5. development of environmentally friendly technologies and methods for aquaculture activities in the conditions of increased human impact for producing organic fish products;
6. scientific support for the environmental monitoring of aquatic biocenoses, environmental expertise for determining the effect of human activities on aquaculture, environmental impact assessment;
7. studies on the effects of human activities on the state of biogenocenoses of different water bodies of the Carpathians;
8. studies of existing and development of new recommendations and prognoses for improving the ecological state of inland water bodies as an integral part of the sustainable development in the Carpathian region;
9. formation of a partner network of stakeholders interested in the sustainable development of the Tissa River basin such as environmental and scientific organizations of neighboring countries, especially participants of the Danube strategy.

Propositions of services for individuals and legal entities:

• scientific support and optimization of the processes of salmonid breeding and rearing;
• comprehensive hydrobiological studies;
• studies of existing fish stocks and determination of the potential fish productivity of water bodies;
• fstocking of water bodies, including in the objects of nature reserve fund of Ukraine and sites of mini hydroelectric power plant construction.
